Baptism Cards from the Godparents.
It was custom in the early years of the Lutheran Church in Australia for ornate cards to be sent to a child on the occasion of their baptism. These Cards were often kept by the child as being something very precious to them.
These cards are in safe keeping of the Arnold Family History Committee and were handed to us by Jane Wilhelmina Esther Batstone nee Arnold (2.2.7) and are of various members of the Arnold Family through the second brother, Johann Gottlob.
The cards were often in the shape of an envelope and within was a special letter or poem written by the Godmothers or Godfathers. The names at the bottom of the letters are those of the Godmother or Godfather.
