Introduction to Archival Material

The following archival material has been collected by the Arnold Family History Committee over many decades and from various family members. This collection will continue to grow as archival documents and memorabilia come to light.
The journal of Maria Magdalena Dallwitz (2.7.1) offers an insight into day-to-day life at the turn of the twentieth century and some amusing insights into courting and marriage. Records of voyages to Adelaide from pastors and sea captains are insightful and personal. A series of documents show the process of naturalisation taken by the original brothers, as they become Australian Citizens. Many of the Arnold Family have strong links to the Wendish and Sorb cultures and we include historical documents and cultural insights,
The poignant collection of post cards written by a World War One soldier to his girlfriend, Helene Marie Arnold (2.9.3) leaves one deeply moved.
For those that are interested in recipes, we have a wonderful collection of cakes, pickles, puddings, biscuits and starch, written by Ernstine Selma Arnold (3.5.3) in 1913 from her home on August Arnold (3.5) property at Port Victoria.
