Arnold Family History Committee Barossa Valley & Bethel Bus Tour
Saturday 7 October 2023
The Arnold Family History Committee celebrated its 40-year anniversary with a bus tour in the Barossa Valley & Bethel on Saturday 7 October 2023. A wonderful celebratory lunch was enjoyed at the Two Hands winery in the original bakehouse built by Carl Friedrich Arnold in the 1880s after he purchased the land from his father Gottlieb in 1884.
The committee has, in its time, launched two family books and organised the Arnold Family Reunions in 1993 and 2003. These family books became the foundation in creating and launching the Arnold Family History archival website and the QR codes are located at the gravesites of the original five Arnold brothers, Gottlieb, Gottlob, Ehrenfried, Wilhem and Carl Friedrich Arnold.

Original Committee members from 1984, Dawn Bowman and Lorraine Powers joined this anniversary tour along with Christine Gates, Jess Powers, Helaine Costello, John Powers, Grace Schache and brothers, Michael & Robert Gates
Below are the committee members at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery at the gravesites of our matriarch Elisabeth and her son Ehrenfried Arnold. A number of Ehrenfried’s children and grandchildren are also buried at Bethel.
Another photo is at the grave site of Wilhelm Arnold, the fourth brother, who is buried at Greenock Cemetery. Here Michael Gates is placing the QR code on plaque that links to the Arnold archival website.
Details of the Bus tour is available on this website.
