Arnold Burial Places and Cemeteries
Introduction into Arnold Burial Places
Visiting the burial sites of our ancestors can offer a connection between the present and the past. It gives us a place to reflect and contemplate on the tenacity and resilience of our forefathers and mothers who courageously cleared land for farming and built their homes initially out of mud and branches until they had the means to build stone homes, some of which exist today.
There are a number of cemeteries of Arnold family interest in the Barossa Valley region and we encourage families to visit these sites and explore the surrounding areas. A number of the brothers and their children soon resettled into regions in South Australia joining many in the Goyder’s Line rush for land, the opening of land on Yorke Peninsula and the Riverland.
In search of more land and opportunities a number of Arnolds, including Gottlob, joined the wagon trek to Walla Walla that began in October 13th in 1868. Today many of Arnolds can be found in the Albury, Wodonga and Walla Walla.
Within two generations Arnolds had moved and settled in all the states of Australia.
We will continue to add the memorial stones of the children and grandchildren of the five brothers, Gottlieb, Gottlob, Ehrenfried, Wilhelm and Carl Fredrich.
